I was recently offered the chance to give a review on an Igus w1080b slider review from www.igus.com. Deciding to make things a little more exciting by adding a little bit of shine and sparkle, I used the opportunity to shoot local visual kei guitar player Yameki and create some DIY bokeh in the video review.

DIY Ring Flash Review - by Von Wong

I was recently asked by DIY Photography to perform a video review of their brand new upcoming “DIY Ring flash”.  Rather than do a purely technical review, I thought that it’d be interesting to find a creative way to put it to use.

Eva Jinn Productions did an amazing job filming and cutting out all my crazy bloopers resulting in a compact 3 min 30 second review of the product that you can check out here:

Overall, I would definitely recommend the DIY Ring Flash to anyone who has never previously had the opportunity to try one out…simply to see what it can do. The even light distribution will ensure proper on-axis fill!

As an afternote, the DIY ring flash will fit the SB-900, all that’s needed to do is cut a slit in the bottom to slide it in. The whole construct is, after all, made of cardboard!
